
Mike Moy – Ex-Fuk Ching Gang Member Turned NYPD Detective
Mike Moy was only 16 years old when he joined the Brooklyn faction of the Fuk Ching gang. In this episode of Inside the Life, Moy shares stories of his upbringing and the events that led him to change his trajectory and join the NYPD. Having had the unique experience of operating on both sides of the law, Moy gives us a first-hand look into the secretive underworld of New York’s Chinatown.
Mike Moy is a former NYPD detective and a former member of the Fuk Ching gang in Chinatown. He spent nine years in the gang before a turning point in the the early 1990s, when many of his friends were either killed or sent to prison. In 1995, Moy enrolled in the policy academy. He was a patrol officer in Chinatown for nine years before being promoted to detective. After retiring, he now runs a YouTube channel, Chinatown Gang Stories, where he interviews former gang members to tell the history of organized crime in New York’s Chinatown.
